In the effort of empowering women and stopping violence against women and girls around the world, the Vagina Monologues will be performed in Cinema 1, Ayala Center Cebu on February 28, 2009 at 7:00 pm.
*The Vagina Monologues is an award winning and phenomenal play written by Eve Ensler. It is made up of different monologues read by women of varying real human characters. The play expresses the pain, sadness, pleasure, bitterness, and humor of femininity with speaking about vaginas as medium. Some monologues included (and more):
I Was Twelve, My Mother Slapped Me: describing many young girls’ menstrual period.
My Vagina Was My Village, a monologue compiled from testimonies of Bosnian women subjected to rape camps.
I Was There In The Room, a monologue in which Ensler describes the birth of her granddaughter.
To tell you this is a must-see (for both men and women) is an understatement, it would be life-, perspective-changing. I should know, I had watched this back in college. For more information, visit this: http://bitemagazine.multiply.com/calendar/item/10510
